Tis the Season

'Tis the Season...

There is something magical about this time of the year.  The scene is being set for twinkling holiday memories...  Each family has their own special traditions, but these are some of ours:

Searching and finding the perfect Christmas tree...
Opening the boxes of ornaments and decorations...
Trimming the tree...
Baking Christmas cookies...
Hanging lights on the house...
Wrapping presents beautifully then proudly displaying them underneath the tree...
Snuggling in with a fire and watching "Yes Virginia, There Is a Santa Claus"...
Leaving milk and cookies out for Santa...
Listening for reindeer on the roof... and hoping to catch a glimpse of the jolly old man...

Cotswold MarketPlace has all that you need to create an enchanting and charming backdrop for the holidays and your family's memories.

Faux Bois Wreath Trunk Show!

Faux Bois
Wreath Trunk Show

Local kitchen designer, Valerie Pressley, branched out one year and found success with her beautiful and unique magnolia and boxwood wreaths adorned with rustic antlers.  Now Faux Bois has a loyal following in the Charlotte area, so much of a following that Pressley had to get the help from friend Kristen Xerras to aid in the making of these beautiful holiday accents .

As Valerie said, "Who needs the traditional red and green?  Why not go after something distinct and different for the winter and holiday season?"

These fresh magnolia and boxwood wreaths are hand crafted in Belmont, North Carolina.  The Original Collection is the best seller year after year.  These wreaths are made of beautiful stems cut from the southern magnolia tree and have a unique take on a bow... antlers are used instead.

The leaves of the magnolia lend a classic elegance to the wreaths with their simple and broadly ovate, smooth margins. They are dark green, stiff and leathery, and often scurfy brown appearance underneath.  Pressley and Xerras look for each stem to have optimum color and texture, then hand cut and carefully craft into timeless adornments for your home.

These wreaths are best suited for outdoors; each fresh wreath to last 2-3 weeks then it starts its drying process: the leaves slightly curl up and turn light green and brown as a magnolia will.

Cotswold Marketplace is hosting a Faux Bois trunk show Saturday, November 13th from 11:00-5:00.  They will have a large and extended offering of wreaths, garlands, and topiaries (all starting at $55.00).  Also, exclusively for the trunk show they will be taking appointments for home trimming packages.  We look forward to joining us for this festive event!

Mirror, Mirror on the Wall

mir-ror
(mir-er) -noun
a reflecting surface, originally of polished metal but now usually of glass with a silvery, metallic, or amalgam backing

As you settle in and begin to decorate a house, one of your first purchases should be a mirror-it will travel with you from room to room, house to house.  Mirrors brighten up a shadowed living room with the reflection of lamps that are tucked in a foyer.  They act as art on a blank wall that you just cannot seem to find the right masterpiece for.  Every room should be dressed with a mirror, whether it be an accent or a focal point.  Does your mirror show you what you want to see?

As Thanksgiving approaches and the setting for the big day is your home, make sure you find the perfect mirror at Cotswold MarketPlace!

Does Your Hall Reflect the Fall?

Designer Peter Marino says "One piece of furniture or art is all you really need to make a room come alive". What better time than the beginning of fall to infuse some life and color through artwork into your home. Cotswold Marketplace is fast becoming the new Charlotte hot spot to find amazing artwork by local artists.

The amzing yellow orange glow from this painting contrasts beautifully with the midnight blue sofa, creating a focal point in this space. (from Elle Decor)

Notice the way this artwork completely sets the tone for this space as a playful and "colofilled" retreat. You can't help but be happy as the gorgeous hues jump off the white walls. (from Elle Decor)

Don't forget the frames! These simple black frames against the pumpkin spice walls really make these botanicals pop! (from Southern Accents)
