Transition into Spring

T  R  A  N  S  I  T  I  O  N

winter to spring...                                                     summer to fall...
                                                                      light to dark...
young to old...                           new to worn...
hot to cold...                                                                                     dull to fresh...

These are the transitions that surround us in our homes, in stages of our lives as we age, and the environments of which we are a part of.  Transitions are a necessary part of life to keep things interesting.  The change, motion, and MOVEMENT of transition has an appealing fluidity that we just cannot seem to deny or resist.

With spring around the corner, it is almost inherent that we got the itch to move vendors and freshen up the store.  And with all of these gray, dreary days we have had, we need a little sprucing up to brighten our days.

Need Design Help?

INTRODUCING
SWELL DECOR

An in-house design service at Cotswold Marketplace offered by Charlotte designers, Angie Persson and Merrin Lowe, along with local artisan, William Perez.

We often hear customers ask if any of us gals who work at the Marketplace are designers, and unfortunately, we are not, though we all share a PASSION for design.  But now, with this dynamic trio providing hourly design help and room design packages, we can say, "We are not designers, but we know just the people you need to talk to."  Persson and Lowe's design background and work experience, coupled with their distinct visions for rooms, have transformed countless clients' homes.  Perez has the ability to breathe new life to dull pieces of furniture and create masterpieces with the stroke of a brush.  Come take a peek at their studio and see what all the buzz is about.

We think that these three friends have a HIT on their hands.

Swell Decor's studio is located in Cotswold Marketplace.  Call 704.365.3331 for more information or to schedule a consultation.

'Tis the Season...

There is something magical about this time of the year.  The scene is being set for twinkling holiday memories...  Each family has their own special traditions, but these are some of ours:

Searching and finding the perfect Christmas tree...
Opening the boxes of ornaments and decorations...
Trimming the tree...
Baking Christmas cookies...
Hanging lights on the house...
Wrapping presents beautifully then proudly displaying them underneath the tree...
Snuggling in with a fire and watching "Yes Virginia, There Is a Santa Claus"...
Leaving milk and cookies out for Santa...
Listening for reindeer on the roof... and hoping to catch a glimpse of the jolly old man...

Faux Bois Wreath Trunk Show!

Faux Bois
Wreath Trunk Show

Local kitchen designer, Valerie Pressley, branched out one year and found success with her beautiful and unique magnolia and boxwood wreaths adorned with rustic antlers.  Now Faux Bois has a loyal following in the Charlotte area, so much of a following that Pressley had to get the help from friend Kristen Xerras to aid in the making of these beautiful holiday accents .

As Valerie said, "Who needs the traditional red and green?  Why not go after something distinct and different for the winter and holiday season?"

These fresh magnolia and boxwood wreaths are hand crafted in Belmont, North Carolina.  The Original Collection is the best seller year after year.  These wreaths are made of beautiful stems cut from the southern magnolia tree and have a unique take on a bow... antlers are used instead.

The leaves of the magnolia lend a classic elegance to the wreaths with their simple and broadly ovate, smooth margins. They are dark green, stiff and leathery, and often scurfy brown appearance underneath.  Pressley and Xerras look for each stem to have optimum color and texture, then hand cut and carefully craft into timeless adornments for your home.

These wreaths are best suited for outdoors; each fresh wreath to last 2-3 weeks then it starts its drying process: the leaves slightly curl up and turn light green and brown as a magnolia will.

Cotswold Marketplace is hosting a Faux Bois trunk show Saturday, November 13th from 11:00-5:00.  They will have a large and extended offering of wreaths, garlands, and topiaries (all starting at $55.00).  Also, exclusively for the trunk show they will be taking appointments for home trimming packages.  We look forward to joining us for this festive event!
